Whether you like to unwind over the weekend or turn up on a Tuesday, you’re going to want to chill at a spot where you get value for your money. I’m talking about ambiance, location, privacy, security and choice of music. That being said, you might end up in Westlands more often than not.
Westands or as I like to call it ‘Kenya’s little Las Vegas’ is the home to the electric avenue. The clubs come to life when the light gives way. Though you might not be looking for a wild night out and prefer something more relaxed, a few of the spots below should come in handy:
The newest player on the block. Juniper Social offers you ambiance like non you have experienced. If you love you some gin, they have got you covered on that. You can choose to socialise outside in their garden or get warm and cozy by their fireplace
Artcaffe at the Oval have a special happy hour everyday from 4pm to 7pm and the cocktails retail at half price. Yes you read that right. Half price. You get more bang for your buck in Nairobi’s favourite hang out spot. It gets better. Every Friday, put on your dancing shoes, bring a date and get ready to salsa the night away from 9pm onwards. Experience a night of Spanish music, cocktails and lots of dancing!
Located at the Delta Corner towers in Westlands, Budhaa Bar and Lounge promises you VIP treatment like no other. The lounge is true to its name as it sticks to the buddha theme in the lounge and bar. There is heavy presence of Dom Pérignon Champagne just so you know that they offer you the best of the best.
I have been trying to find my way to Mercury Lounge for a while now. But somehow they remain unconvinced that I am above 25 years old however much I try and make myself look worthy lol. Mercury is an exclusive bar and lounge with some of the best auras around town. They have an event every single day of the week! So if you need to listen to some good music over a drink and some food on everybody’s favourite day, Monday, they have you covered!
The Balcony at Villa Rosa Kempinski is a delight like no other. Whether you are looking for a place to relax and bathe in absolute luxury, or catch up with your friends over a drink, The Balcony will be at your service. During the evenings you will be treated to the best of jazz and pop by the resident live band. An experience like none other.
Located on the seventh floor of the Sankara Hotel, The Champagne Bar offers you a relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind, socialise or simply pass time. As its name suggests, it is a champagne bar so it should be the perfect place to be if your looking to have some bubbly.
Havana is by far my favourite spot in Westlands. From the music, to the crowd to their wide selection of drinks and food, Havana is a like a little getaway in the heart of Westlands. Located along Woodvale groove, Havana is frequented by a vast majority of youthful expatriates and locals who are out for one thing. If their paintings don’t fill you with amusement, their resident DJ will keep you on your feet for as long as they can hold you.
