A Winner at Windsor

Last month, the Kenya Concierge team was invited to a VIP dinner at Windsor Golf & Country Club in Gigiri.  Our host, Ray Cournede, is often considered to be the best, yet-to-be-fully-discovered chef in Kenya and we all expect he’ll be nominated next year for a Taste Award.  The young French-Danish culinary curator gathered a large and dedicated following during his three-and-a-half years at Peponi Hotel on Lamu, and now his reach is extending to the Nairobi area, delighting new and regular fans alike.

Ray is understated in his manner, but his cooking is audacious, unique and profound, in terms of ingredients, creativity and presentation.  We were each served all four starters (the Asian Grilled Prawns were particularly sublime) and then selected from five different entrée offerings (it was a toss up between the Bouillabaise and the Rack of Lamb).

So if you’re up for a very special outing, Ray’s dining room at Windsor should be on your bucket list.
