If you saw our piece on Solar Cooking by Greenobi then you already have an idea of what the African Crossroads presented by Hivos is about. African Crossroads is a participant-driven event, during which you can present content, organize a workshop, exhibit an artwork, display an innovation, do a performance or share other ideas! Please note that the main language of the event will be English. They can accommodate those who feel more comfortable presenting in French through translation.
As presented during Greenobi, this gathering strives to spark deep discussions about the latest inventions and innovations in science, art, and technology, through round table discussions, art installations, invigorating workshops, prototype demonstrations. The purpose of this community and its gathering is to take the multi-disciplinary discussions into actions to bring structural changes across the African continent.
This year, the event will gather individuals from all over Africa in the field of art, design, entrepreneurship and technology to critically reflect on the theme of the year: “Sense the City”. The community will address various questions in relation to the urbanisation of the African continent and its consequences on our perceptions. How do the African cities of today and tomorrow sound, taste, feel or move, and how do these cities sense us in return via the increasing development of new technologies?
November 20 to 22 will be exclusively for the selected participants and November 23 will be an open day where the community will share its reflections and actions with a larger audience.
If you are living or working in Africa, and interested in exploring cutting-edge trends in art, technology, design, and entrepreneurship coming out of the continent then this is the place for you. Would you like to join a multidisciplinary community of African thinkers and doers? This year they will explore the diversity of African cities in all its multi-sensory aspects. How do the African cities of today and tomorrow sound, taste, feel and move, and how do these cities sense us in return?
