The Ultimate Boiler Room Cocktails

written by Leroy Buliro 10th May 2018

For the very first time, Boiler Room x Ballantine’s lands in Nairobi, Kenya for the #TrueMusicAfrica showcase where it will see top Kenyan underground artists perform live to an online Global audience.

Boiler Room is a global online music broadcasting platform that commissions and live streams live music sessions around the world. Recently, the famous Scottish blended whisky Ballantine’s and the Boiler Room team came together to launch the #TrueMusicAfrica campaign whose goal is to shine a light on the most progressive African creatives pushing boundaries in hyper-local scenes across the continent.

Through the True Music platform, Ballantine’s scotch whisky supports and celebrates artists who make music they truly believe in without compromise. Or as the slogan goes, artists who do it ‘their way’. The series kicked off in Cape Town, South Africa, was followed by an event in Douala, Cameroon and now, after a long wait, Nairobi.

Among the Kenyan artists set of perform are Muthoni Drummer Queen, Suraj, Taio, EA Wave and Coco-Em. The Boiler Room event will be streamed Worldwide where over 70 million viewers will see the event unfold.

“Kenya is at the forefront of digital technology in Africa and because of this, there’s a genuinely innovative and collaborative spirit emerging across the creative industries there. It’s such an exciting time for Kenya and we’re thrilled that our True Music Africa show in Nairobi will champion this movement,” said Ballantine’s Head of Music, Tom Elton.

In honour of the show, the Kenyan Ballantine’s team has come up with a series of delicious cocktails which were specifically crafted with the Kenyan artists in mind. The EatOut team got the opportunity to try some of them courtesy of master mixologist Yvonne Wairimu and we are definitely looking forward to trying them at the event.
