Adega is a lovely portuguese-inspired restaurant situated on a large sunny balcony overlooking the leafy suburb of Lavington. Aside from their excellent portuguese style lamb and chicken, the restaurant offers a good selection of seafood tossed in their secret spices and sauces to make them truly unique.

Reminiscent of a seaside kitchen with its woven chairs and beachy hues (but with a modern and upmarket twist), this South African franchise has really made a name for itself since its opening in 2014. Sit inside or out on the large, breezy balcony and have your pick of fresh, easygoing seafood dishes like fish and chips, prawns, baby squid, calamari, mussels and more. They also serve affordable sushi.

Must Try: Platter for One (a combination of fish, prawns, calamari, baby squid and mussels – perfect)

Anyone will tell you that Tamarind Mombasa is a must-visit restaurant if you’re looking for a truly magical dining experience by the sea. Even without the sea, its Nairobi counterpart is still as magical with an equally mouthwatering seafood menu in a delightful atmosphere on the Karen Blixen grounds.
