written by EatOut 13th August 2014

Kenyan beer brand Simpils scooped the country’s sole Award at the prestigious Global Craft Beer Awards 2014 recently held in BerlinGermany.

Crafted by the Big Five Breweries at the Brew Bistro and Lounge in Nairobi, Simpils took silver in the Pils category of Lagers, behind Iceland’s Brio brand, that took Gold.

68 International breweries submitted over 300  entries of draft beer, and the beer was sampled and judged by a jury of 34 international members. Three Beers had been entered by the Big Five Breweries, including Temstout in the Ale Stout segment, and Chai Spiced lager in the ‘Most Innovative Beer‘ category.

“The team is extremely proud of the Big Five Breweries efforts, and we want to share the news with our awesome clients who have supported us from day one, so  that they too  can proudly  share in our success, and the experience of drinking an International Award-winning draft beer.” Aleem Ladak, Master Brewer and Managing Director at Big Five Breweries/ Brew Bistro and Lounge, also the Vice President of the Global Association of Craft Brewers for Africa.

Well we at EatOut Magazine congratulate Brew Bistro for their epic win. Perhaps they should throw a  celebratory party and invite us. (*wink)
