written by EatOut 12th April 2012

Are you a sports fanatic? Are you glued to the television whenever a soccer game is on? Do you have what it takes to be the next great Kiswahili sports commentator? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, then this might be the perfect opportunity for you to shine.

If you’ve always dreamt of working with international sports channel SuperSport, you’re in luck. SuperSport is embarking on a Kiswahili commentator search called Bonga Boli for the live Kenya Premier League (KPL) matches it televises. The exciting commentator search activation will be running across Kenya looking for fresh talent.

So how does one audition for such an exciting competition?

Auditions will be held at malls in Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu during April 2012. The audition process is quite exciting. Mobile recording soundproof booths will be set up at the malls and each aspiring commentator will listen to a pre-recorded one-minute clip of a KPL game, which they will commentate on. Call-in entries will also be received on the Bonga Boli line where contestants will be able to show off their skills.

The Bonga Boli team will be hosting auditions at the following venues:

Wild Waters in Mombasa from 13- 15 April 2012, Aga Khan Hall in Kisumu from 20- 22 April 2012 and at Prestige Mall in Nairobi from 26-29 April 2012.

After the auditions, celebrity judges John Nene, Jacob Ghost Mulee, Ann Ngugi and Mohammed Juma Njuguna will go through a rigorous search, selecting the best candidates from the auditions, which may be challenging.

The top contestants will then be taken to the SuperSport studios where they’ll be trained by SuperSport’s renowned football commentators. Then they will face off on the Bonga Boli show for the ultimate prize thorough a number of commentary challenges.

Not only will the winner of the competition get to work at a live game on SuperSport, but he/she will also stand a chance of landing a job with the World of Champions.

Everything from launch to the auditions will be aired on SuperSport throughout the activation duration. The final show will be live on Simba Soccer show on SuperSport.
