Breakfast Fit for Royalty at Chatroom KE

How seriously do you take the saying, “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper?” The saying is by American author and nutritionist Adelle Davis and it definitely means your breakfast should be the most important meal of the day. We enjoyed a king’s breakfast at Chatroom Restaurant and Lounge, but it was more than just breakfast.

Relaxing Space
The Chatroom is located at Tropical Towers, on Wood Avenue and they’ve been in operation for about seven months now. I can’t gush enough about the space! From the minute my colleague and I walked in, we knew we were in a unique space. With the sitting area overlooking a pool, a little bookshelf for readers, a fully-stocked bar and a pergola section with tents that are opened on sunny days, this is the place you want to go to every mid-morning or on a breezy afternoon.

We were lucky enough to head there on a less busy day which allowed us to immerse ourselves in the space, chat freely (just what the Chatroom intends) and to definitely take amazing photos. “We’re busiest on weekends and Monday mornings. We get a lot of people from the offices around the Kilimani area,” our host told us.
Since the Chatroom is located at the ground floor of Tropical Towers’ apartments, they serve tenants a lot more as well.

The Breakfast
Fantastic! That’s the word I’d use to describe the breakfast we had. Our very heavy English breakfast included toasts, fried mushrooms, an egg, two pancakes, two sausages, a bowl of baked beans and we downed all of this with hot cups of Masala chai. I can already feel the heat I was feeling when we were there from how full we were!

The beans were prepared using a special sauce that made them so deliciously good. You might say no to many things but not their toasts! The Masala chai with its spicy notes added more flavour to our breakfast. You’re probably asking whether they stock Nora Roberts or Sidney Sheldon gripping books but the truth is, we were way too relaxed at the pergola whiling the time away to think about grabbing a book.

If you’re looking for a chilled space for early meetings, lunch or even dinner, we recommend this place. You don’t have to worry about the food because you won’t regret it.
Their menu is pocket-friendly with the breakfast going for Ksh 500, exclusive of the tea. What about drinks? They have a happy hour selection and you’ll enjoy the drinks facing the calming pool (yes, please do!).
The Chatroom KE also rents out the space to event holders so if you’re having a graduation party, wedding reception or a chilled private event, this is the place to be.
