‘Breaking Bad’ Meth Candy Recipe

written by Njoroge Muigai 20th August 2013

Heisenberg would be proud of Bloggers Zach Wilkins and Jason Medina from TheGlutLife.com.

They made  meth candy from the comfort of their garage ‘Breaking Bad’ style in a setup that would have had DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) cops all over it.

The bright blue candy is made up of water, corn syrup, sugar and blue liqueur.

Equipment you’ll need

• A heavy gauge stainless steel pot

• Candy thermometer

• Whisk

• Baking sheets

• Pyrex measuring cups

• A Dish

Other requirements for your Heisenberg escapade are a dingy garage to complete the whole setup; that is if you are into that kind of thing.

• 1 Cup Distilled Water

• 1 1/2 Cup Light Corn Syrup

• 4 Cups Sugar

• 1/2 Tsp Cream of Tartar

• 8 Drops of Blue Food Coloring

• 1/8 Cup Blue Curacao

• Pinch of Chili Powder

 In the stainless pot mix in the water, sugar, corn syrup, and cream of tartar.

 Bring mixture to 260 degrees and stir in the “Blue Magic” i.e. an 1/8 cup of Blue Curacao.

 Once the mixture reaches 300 degrees and not a degree over, it’s time to pull it from the heat and stir in 8 drops of food coloring.

(Just like in AMC’s Breaking Bad, this is chemistry and due diligence is to be observed otherwise the batch will be ruined)

 Carefully pour into a Pyrex Dish or baking tray and let it cool unrefrigerated.

Zach and Jason added a pinch of Chili P to their batch so as to make their ‘product’ stand out

 Let the batch sit for at least an hour to harden. Once hardened, it’s time to break out the hammer and start breaking the crystal up.
