The World Gourmet Society Festival that started on January 20, 2014 and runs up till February 20th includes top restaurants across the globe offering their interpretation of the World Gourmet Society’s mission to discover new culinary landscapes through a specially designed menu.
WGS is a worldwide club of gourmet and food enthusiasts. The society currently numbers more than 15,000 members worldwide on LinkedIn and is the largest group of its kind.
The festival will not take place at one venue. Rather, menus will be offered during four weeks in restaurants around the world.
Brew Bistro and Lounge, which happens to be one of Nairobi’s top and popular restaurant, is happy to have made the list together with other globally acclaimed restaurants with Michelin starred chefs.
The festival will be complemented with a Guide that features all menus and participating restaurants. The Guide also provides insight into the gourmet world of the chefs who have created the menus to help discover new culinary landscapes. For this, Chef Tim at Brew has prepared a fantastic and signature 3-course menu to try out.
‘’Brew Bistro and Lounge is proud and privileged to be part of the WG. It’s always an honor to add to the culinary landscape and expand the culinary imagination,’’ concluded Soraiya Meghji, director at Brew Bistro.
Here is a small question and answer we did with Soraiya about Brew putting Kenya in the global dining map!
Did you apply to get into the festival or were you picked?
Brew Bistro and Lounge was picked by the founder of WG Matthias Tesi Baur to be part of the festival. He had heard of the place and been there before and was very impressed with the space and the culinary potential of the place.
What do you think made you stand out from the rest of the crowd?
I think being a craft brewery that embodies both fine and casual cuisine really made us stand out.
Coupled with the fact that we feature cuisine from all over the globe, Asian, French, American, Spanish etc….all make up part of Brew’s unique qualities.
What’s in store during the period (20th Jan-20th Feb) that diners can look forward to at brew?
Dinners can look forward to a a truly globally inspired menu featuring a choice of appetizer main course dessert and cafe complete.
Based on the festival what will you do to ensure you get more diners to sample what you have to offer?
The waiters have been trained on the menu and the concept on the WG and are proud as well as inspired to be part of the festival hence they are really pushing the menu to clients. We will also have blogs from the Chef and Matthias that we will use over social media to hype the event.
Is the menu designed from existing ones or is it an entirely newly created menu?
Its a new menu, featuring elements from existing dishes but with a modern twist on it.
How much is it going for and are there any special discounts/ rates?
The 3 course menu is kshs 3900
The 3 Course wine pairing is going for kshs 5900
