Lets talk business. Over a hearty lunch, at a world class restaurant with service that makes you feel like the rest of the day is better spent there than at the office. You’re going to want to bring a healthy appetite, a craving for new taste and that fussy client who you’ve been trying to lock down. Since you want to make an impression, you’re going to take them to the swankiest restaurant in Nairobi, Caramel Restaurant and Lounge. Your reservation will be set at 1pm sharp. You are a businessperson of course. Time is of the essence, food is for the soul. Your host will be at the door as soon as you walk in. She’ll flash you a generous smile, walk you over to your table, pull the chair for you, stand to the side, introduce herself and present the menu to you. The ambiance is modern, luxurious and comfortable enough to keep you from sticking out like a sore thumb.
Caramel has a business lunch menu that is yet to be matched. They don’t offer a humdrum, boring lunch menu. This is Caramel. They put together an affordable, yet exciting menu that would have you dreading a mundane lunch anywhere else. For Ksh. 1,475 you get an insanely delicious two-course meal and one very well fed client. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. I recently had the opportunity to indulge in their lunch menu and it was nothing short of euphoric. I wasn’t on business though, so the pressure to seal any deals was overtaken by the anticipation of food.
Caramel is now one of my most favorite restaurants. It’s a cut above the rest, no wonder they were recognized as one of Nairobi’s most prestigious restaurants at the 2015 Taste Awards. You have a choice of three items as starters (1 meat, 2 veg) and six options for the main course (5 meat, 1 veg). Growing up, I never quite liked eggplant so I was going to have the crispy eggplant as my starter just to see if they could win me over. I didn’t have to wait to long for my meal to arrive. The service is swift, precise and personalized. One bite of my eggplant and I was hooked. It was out of this world. The crispy top gave way to a delicious succulent flesh that burst with flavor. Every bite was thrilling and undeniably enjoyable. I could have licked the plate clean!
For the main I ordered the Herb Crusted Tuna Steak with spinach as a side. I had my steak well done, and in the simplest of terms, it was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and was like a ballad in my mouth, especially when I poured the lemon and honey sauce they had provided. The sauce blended in perfectly with the steak giving off a well-balanced, sweet and sour taste. The steak was accompanied with an oval shaped helping of mash potatoes. This, plus the steak and the spinach was a simple yet scrumptious meal. I was very satisfied, very happy and very impressed. Their reservations manager, Allison, has done a lovely job managing the place. Hats off to her.
I think you should visit Caramel, I highly suggest that you do. Whether its for business or leisure, you’re bound to love it all.
