Garden Restaurant located next to Oshwal Centre at Lotos Inn and Suites has to be one of the most scenic restaurants in Nairobi. On the rooftop of the building, six stories tall, Garden Restaurant has a beautiful glass roof which allows natural light to flood in during the day and transforms the restaurant into a dazzling view of the stars at night. All this combined with the picturesque Westlands skyline makes it a lovely place to be.
This Chinese restaurant has a casual and spacious set up ideal for large groups. Their menu features classics including dim sum, Chinese barbeque, noodles and a wide array of seafood, pork, beef chicken and tofu dishes as well as vegetarian options and soups.
I recently visited Garden Restaurant for dinner with my colleagues and after the excitement and banter of the rooftop view of Westlands by night, we were ready to travel through their expansive Chinese menu. To start, we had lemon prawns and Har Gau (traditional dumpling served as dim sum), pork and the vegetable bun dumplings. The dumplings were plump and juicy and came in generous portions of five to ten pieces.
For the main course, we had chicken with cashew nuts, sizzling beef, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable rice and noodles with crunchy vegetables. Our options were filling and the spicy meals were well balanced. For dessert we tucked into the warm and fluffy pumpkin cake stuffed with red beans capping off our lovely night on a cosy note.
Their bar section which is located in a separate corner of the restaurant is ideal for having drinks with a friend. Whether you are a beer, wine or cocktail lover they have got you covered. The soft music that plays in the background makes it a perfect ambiance for after work drinks.
If you happen to find yourself exploring new restaurants in Westlands or if the evening traffic catches up to you, pop into Garden restaurant and enjoy their traditional Chinese cuisine. With a 15% special discount on lunch for all customers during the month of October and a 10% discount on dinner for Yummy Card holders, what’s not to enjoy!
