Taste Of India At Darwar

The scrumptious taste of the crunchy delicious aubergine fries still lingers in my mouth. I have never been a fan of aubergine but those served at Darwar gave my taste buds an unexpected pleasant surprise. In fact, it really took some convincing from the restaurant owner, Nimisha Patel for me to accept that those were indeed aubergines and not potato fries.

We had gone to Darwar, an Indian restaurant located at Apic Centre, Westlands for lunch. Tones of red and white dot the adequately spaced restaurant. A blackboard at the front highlights the daily specials and their prices. Pur-bhaji on Tuesdays, Rajma Chawal on Wednesdays- the chef’s specials include pan-fried fish, Darwar special egg curry, pousin chicken wings and tandoor specials such as non-veg mix platter, tandoori chicken, tandoori prawns and lots more.


After such a mouth-watering start, our appetites were hooked and I knew I had to have more from this restaurant. Mutton Kebabs, Garlic Cassava, Mutton Rogan Josh, Palak Butter Masala Methi and Garlic Naan found homes in our hungry stomachs. Each meal was an utter delight with bold flavours and generous portions. The Mutton arrived hot and savoury with all the flavours standing out. A scoop with the buttery naan resulted to a comforting meal I couldn’t get enough of. The Naan was so good an extra serving was warranted.



If the Indian food craving bites you while in Westlands, a trip to Darwar is guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds. If you are stuck in the office reading this, your mouth salivating and demanding for an Indian treat, guess what, they deliver! Their prices are pocket-friendly and they also provide outside catering.
