Does red wine really deserve this all attention? Research shows that there is something about red wine if drunk moderately can help protect you heart, prevent blood clots and also reduce your body’s cholesterol.
Some Uruguyan chemists recently discovered a secret behind their homegrown healthy red wine sequenced by the genome of Tannat grape which the red wine is made from.
They have discovered their red wines contain high levels of procyanidins ,a class of flavanols found in plants, fruit and cocoa beans.
The discovery was confirmed by Roger Corder, professor of experimental therapeutics at Queen Mary University of London and author of The Red Wine Diet, said that Tannat wines contains 3-4 times more procyanidins than Cabernet Sauvignon.
Corder says Tannat and a high concentration of tannins which help in combating aging of cells are likely to be components behind the health giving properties.
Other researchers are thrilled by resveratrol. Which is a compoud found in the skin of red wine grapes. Resveratrol has been seen as a kind of a wonder drug this is so with the anti-ageing compound it has.
The compund may end up assiting in combating obesity, cure cancer and probably help in extending life.
