Monday the 30th of March saw dusitD2 officially inaugurated by the powers that be in a grand opening was that themed ‘East meets East’. It was a very exclusive event. The number of suits would make any government seating red with shame. There were gorgeous hostesses who welcomed you as you walked in made you feel right at home and offered a cold drink as they ushered you in. All Mondays should be like this!
The crowd was a punctual one. 7pm and the place was almost full. Business personalities, media gurus, and fashion icons mingled freely, downed the wine and sampled the finest of Chef Antoine Gasniers bites and jammed on as DJ Protege entertained. A little background history of Dusit International: Dusit is family owned. Yup! Mind blown. They are also the first asian luxury hotel in Kenya. Talk about making an entrance. They have over 60 years of experience in the hotel industry. Not too many companies can boast of such success. Their CEO and MD, Mr. Chanin Donavanik, is a humble fellow. Very down to earth and friendly.
Renown radio personality, Caroline Mutoko, played an excellent role in controlling the already excited crowd as she introduced the speakers for the night: Mr. Snehal Sanghrajka, Director of Cape Hotels Ltd. and Mr Chanin Donavanik, CEO and Managing Director of Dusit International.
“We are extremely proud of the dusitD2 Nairobi,” commented Mr Snehal Sanghrajka. “We believe our hotel has raised the standard of the local hospitality scene and set a new benchmark for quality, service and innovation. Partnering with Dusit and melding their iconic brand of gracious Thai hospitality with our Kenyan style and creativity has really been a key differentiator for us, and we are delighted to collaborate with Dusit on this project.”
“This is such an exciting moment and we are thrilled to witness the Grand Opening of the dusitD2 Nairobi,” commented Mr Chanin Donavanik. “This hotel, being the first in Kenya to be managed by an Asian operator, serves as a great example of a collaboration between two companies sharing one vision. I would like to congratulate my partners on this significant achievement and we look forward to a long and successful business relationship in years to come. This is only the first of many projects for Dusit in Sub-Saharan Africa, as we look to solidify our presence on the continent.”
