Wednesday, May 20th 2015, marked the official launch of Elle & Vire, a renown french dairy brand, in the Kenyan market at a befitting event at the French Ambassadors residence, where I recently attended the Good France dinner. The launch brought together chefs from Nairobi’s leading restaurants and hotels as well as food bloggers for a special presentation from Elle & Vire’s international culinary advisor, Christian Guillut.
The French are a delightful group of people. They know how to party even when the rain would rather they not. As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed with a hearty smile, something to bite and a cold drink. There were so many chefs around, and if you didn’t know a thing or two about food, you would’ve felt out of place.
Chef Christian Guillut from Elle & Vire, was clearly excited about the product when he demonstrated it to us. He praised the texture and the quality of the whipped cream and all the chefs around paid keen attention to the product and his methods. The end result was fantastic. The texture and the feel of the whipped cream on pastry was like a match made in heaven. My favourite was the chocolate mousse. The lightness, the texture! Somebody take me to France!
The range of Elle & Vire products that have launched in Kenya include yoghurt, which has a shelf life of nine months, butter, whipped cream and various cooking creams. Present in 121 countries across the globe, including Kenya, their products promise to change your pastries and desserts from basic, to jaw-droppingly amazing. You can find them at your closest Nakumatt store as well as Chandarana supermarkets.
