Fairmont Welcomes New Group Executive Chef

The Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Kenya, have revealed their new executive chef. Chef Doxis Bekris, joins the luxury hotel chain fresh from working at the Westin Resort and Romanos Luxury Collection as Complex Culinary Director.

During his tenure at Westin and Romanos, he oversaw 19 restaurants and the implementation of the Omega restaurant concept. His span in Kenya will extend from Fairmont The Norfolk in Nairobi, Fairmont Mara Safari Club and the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.  At a media luncheon on Friday 5th December, 2014, at Tatu Restaurant we were given an exclusive meet and greet and food sampling of delicacies made by Chef Doxis.

Doxis has vast experience in hotel & restaurant pre-opening, as Executive Chef, including The Address Dubai Mall Hotel, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Residence Georgio Hotel (Greece) & Elounda Bay Palace (Greece) & Milos restaurants (US & Greece). In addition, he has worked with various Michelin Star Chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, Richard Neat, Marco Pierre and Gealtiero Marchessi.

He also has his own cook book, Mesogeiaka & Eponyma, and has catered for celebrities such as Madonna & the filming of the ‘No Reservations’ movie.

Commenting on his appointment, Davide Bertilaccio, Area General Manager, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Kenya said ‘Executive Chef Doxis is introducing an innovative culinary program incorporating the use of fresh ingredients from local farmers. The culinary offering emerging from this fusion will definitely elevate the brand locally and is bound to surprise and delight the guests’.

With over 15 years of international hospitality experience, having held prestigious positions in Italy, the US, the UK, the UAE and Greece, Chef Doxis is definitely a talented culinary genius whose food you should have.
