For most of us, our alarm is usually always the only thing reminding us that we need to wake up, and this was surely a harsh reminder on the first day back to work that the festive season is over and it’s time to get back to the daily grind.
For most people the start of a new year offers the most motivation for a fresh start. The Christmas holidays have done a number on our waistlines and wallets and it’s time to start thinking about those New Year’s resolutions whether it is to lose weight, stop smoking, spend less and save more or just to become a better person. We have some tips for you to help you kick off 2016 in the best way possible. Follow these and you’ll find yourself happier and more inspired to face the challenges ahead.
1) Get rid of clothes that you no longer like and don’t wear –
You’ll feel so much better once your closet is pared down to things that look great on you and bring a smile to your face.
2) Clean out your car
Throw away all those plastic bottles and food wrappers, get a car wash and pop in a new air freshener, it will make the world of difference especially on your drive to work.
3) Rejuvenate the relationships in your life
Are you happy with your partner? Take stock of what’s working and what’s not. Think about ways that you can spice things up and re-connect. Have adventures, try something new together and have big important conversations. You will both be happier as a result.
4) Switch up your surroundings
You don’t need to engage in an extreme home makeover to get the feeling of a new space. Put some different pictures in those frames, put something different in that decorative bowl, replace the Venetian blinds with some curtains, paint an accent wall a colour you love. You don’t need to break the bank to see a huge difference in your everyday life.
5) Make a list of new things you want to try
They don’t need to be epic, expensive, life changing things. ‘Cook something with lemongrass,’ or trying out ‘Hip Hop Karaoke’ are all equally valid.
6) Strive to eat, drink and live healthier
We have all indulged a little bit too much in all the delicious treats and boozy concussions over December and we advise a detox through these simple and effective ways. First of all be sure to drink more water, you can try adding lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to make it more exciting. Add a green juice to your day – this is a great way to add life giving and detoxifying plant chlorophyll to your bloodstream. Incorporate more parsley and coriander to your diet. These herbs are very powerful natural green plant foods for detoxifying heavy metals out of your body. Lastly breathe deep into your abdomen – Deep breathing is one of the most powerful exercises you can do to activate your lymph system which helps to detoxify your body with up to 70% of our body’s waste products are eliminated via our lungs!
It’s time to make 2016 what you want it to be; smile, be positive and make things happen for you.
Happy New Year Everyone!
