Gucci this, Gucci that! The worldwide fashion powerhouse has made it its mission to serve you designer meals to match your designer tummy. The Italian fashion house recently opened a bistro known as 1921 Gucci Café at the luxury IAPM luxury shopping centre in Shanghai. How exclusive is that? Not even the Italians have it!
The new café is reportedly the worlds first full service gucci restaurant and took 2 years to complete. Is there a front door? I’m glad you asked. The only way guests can access the restaurant is by via an elevator from the Gucci store in the mall. That means after an exhausting shoe shopping spree, you can pop over for a bite at your fashion labels restaurant.
Once in, you are bathed in velvet, pillows and everything gucci from the silverware to the menus, to the damn napkins. It is reported that a two course lunch ranges at around Ksh. 2500 (24$) per person with prices doubling when dinner time arrives. Their menu is reportedly Italian so you know what that means – Gucci pizza! I’m just saying, but if they do have pizza on their menu, you can expect it to be a gourmet one with little G’s on the crust.
Gucci joins the likes of Armani, Burberry, Versace, Ralph Lauren and more in the restaurant business. If you’re heading to Shanghai, China anytime soon, pop in and let us know how the restaurant is!
