Build Your Simple Home-Made Smoker
This is a simple DIY. Line your cooking pot with a sheet of aluminium foil and place the wood chips on top. Cover the wood chips with another aluminium foil to keep the food from dripping into the chips underneath. Put a steamer basket on top of the wood chips. If you don’t have a steamer basket, simply create a simple one by pocking holes on an aluminium take away plate or dish and flatten it as much as possible, then place it bottom-side -up on top of the foil with the wood chips.
Smoke Your Food
Place your food on top of the steamer, ensuring they don’t touch so that the smoke from the wood chips can seep through the holes. Cover the pot with another layer of aluminium foil and the pot’s lid on top to keep all the smoke in. he more the smoke the richer the flavour. Place the pot on medium-high heat and wait for it to cook.
Enjoy Your Smoked Food
When ready, let the food sit in the uncovered pot for a few minutes to give the smoke some extra time to infuse in your food. Depending on what your smoking, e.g fish takes about 15 minutes to be read, chicken and beef will take 30-45 minutes, you will have achieved savouring your own smoked meal without having to use a smoker!
