KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is proud to announce the start of a long-term collaboration with prize-winning Brazilian chef Rodrigo Oliveira. KLM is now serving meals designed by him on its flights from Brazil to Amsterdam.
Rodrigo philosophy corresponds with KLM’s views on sustainability and he only uses local, seasonal Brazilian ingredients. Exceptionally, meals by this top chef will be served in both Business and Economy Class onboard KLM flights.
Rodrigo Oliveira is the chef and owner of the renowned São Paulo restaurant Mocotó, whose superb Amazonian cuisine has been awarded two stars by the Guia 4 Rodas. Rodrigo was voted Brazil’s Chef of the Year and won the Best New Restaurant Award with Mocotó in the same year.
“My biggest motivation was the challenge to translate our cuisine to the world of aviation. The high standards that KLM demands convinced me that this was the ideal moment to introduce our cuisine to a diverse, vast and global public,” said Rodrigo Oliveria, Brazilian top-chef.
By entering into collaboration with this new top chef, KLM is preparing to harness the benefits forthcoming major sporting events will bring: the football World Cup scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 12th to Sunday, July 13th of this year and the 2016 Olympic games.
According to Samir Azzouzi KLM Country Manager , “These major sport events provide endless opportunities not only for the Brazilian people but also other regional markets outside of South America, in addition the South American cuisine is extremely popular and accessible to a wide range of tastes globally. ’’
