ABSOLUT Vodka present its third annual professional mixology competition – “MIX IT UP with ABSOLUT”. ABSOLUT Vodka is associated the world over with artistry in mixology as well as being an innovator in the cocktail industry. This competition seeks to reward creativity, dynamic personality and passion for ABSOLUT. It seeks to bring all professional bartenders together to showcase their individuality through creating cocktails using a dominant ABSOLUT Vodka flavour and bringing it to life through a story. The story behind each cocktail gives the mixologist leverage and entry into the competition.
Judges will range from award winning mixologists, industry players and noteworthy personalities. This year’s competition was announced and launched at the “Mix It Up with ABSOLUT” conference where bartenders had been invited to experience a day of ABSOLUT artistry and inspiration.
This year, the competition has been zoned into two heats;
- 1st Heat: 14th October 2014,
- 2nd Heat: 21st October 2014,
Winners from each heat will head to the Grand Finale will be hosted at the Dusit Bar 14 Riverside; the date will be communicated later. This year’s winner will receive:
- A cash prize of KSH 100,000 as well as a fully paid trip to train with the best at the ABSOLUT Vodka headquarters in Sweden.
- The runner up and third place will receive a cash prize of Ksh50,000 and 25,000 respectively.

Nairobi has got great talent and skill, we envision a bigger and better challenge this year as we strive to bring the art of mixology and ABSOLUT Vodka to life.’
Last year’s competition was won by Kingkline Ojal from Aqueous. He charmed the judges with a fruity cocktail that was inspired by Kenya at 50 celebrations, The ABSOLUT Misty Web beautifully crafted from ABSOLUT Mango and served in a traditional African gourd embedded with a Kenyan flag.
