Make your own Jalebi this Diwali

Jalebi is a very famous Indian snack that is made of deep fried dough. It is a very easy treat to make during Diwali. Even though Diwali has passed. You can still celebrate the new year this weekend by making delicious Jalebi for friends and family.
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 2/3rd cups water
  • 1/2 tsp green cardamom powder
  • 11/2 tbsp kewra/rose water
  • Ghee
  • Vegetable oil.
  •  11/2 tbsp fine rice flour.
  • 1/4th tsp baking powder.
  • 2 tbsp yogurt.
  • 11/4thwater.
  • 1/2 tsp saffron


  • Mix the semolina and rice flour, baking powder, curd and 3/4th cup of the water in a bowl .
  • Add the remaining water and 1/8th tsp. of saffron powder.
  • Whisk the mixture until smooth.
  • Set aside to ferment.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • Make sugar syrup.
  •  A saffron and cardamom powder to the sugar syrup.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai.
  • Pour the batter in a steady streaminto the kadhai to form coils. Make a few at a time.
  • Deep fry them until they are golden and crisp all over but not brown.
  • Remove from the kadhai and drain on kitchen paper.
  • Put the mixture in a syrup.
  • Soak for 5 minutes into the syrup.
  • Take the jalebi out of syrup and serve hot.
