We got invited to attend a sushi class at 88 at Villa Rosa Kempinski, and this came just at the right time seeing as we were working on the next issue of Yummy Magazine which is themed around- wait for it- sushi! There were about only 10 of us and therefore the class was quite intimate which made it all the more fun and informative! We started off by making a simple crab salad using cucumber, carrots, lettuce, crab sticks and caviar, but its strongest point was definitely in the sweet chilli and mayonnaise sauce. This was followed by chef Tyrone Ompoy showing us how to make a simple hosomaki roll (nori outside, rice inside) and the oh so popular California roll (rice outside, nori inside). The classes happen on the second Saturday of every month for only Ksh 2,500 per person and it sure is worth every penny!
