When word came to me that we had been invited to an exclusive sneak peek of Festa  Della Pasta in a dinner at Mediterraneo Junction, I was ready to jump into the world of pasta that had always seemed to elude me. Chef Dario has crafted an extensive menu catering for various palates, from vegetarians to seafood lovers. Even those who love their meals hot and spicy will be spoilt for choice like we were in the first twenty minutes after seeing the menu.

When we arrived, we were welcomed with a glass of wine straight from  Siciliy, Nero D’avola (Red) which is an indigenous variety of Italian wine and the Chardonnay Pinot Grigio.

We each ordered different dishes:

The black pepper added onto the meal gave it an interesting kick that blended perfectly with the mushrooms.  If you are a lover of cheese and mushrooms then this is the dish for you. It is flavorful and you can taste the passion and the meticulous expertise the chef put into the meal. It also comes in generous servings and paired well with both the red and white wine.

Casarecce “all” Amatriciana with Onions Tomato and Speck

The shape of the pasta is eye-catching and it also helps to catch all the sauces and spices in equal measure. The meal has a fantastic balance with the smokiness of the speck being cut by the tomatoes and basil.

The juiciness of the prawns added a flare to this meal and the mild spice made everything all exciting. You would think that because this is spaghetti that it wasn’t as filling as the others but you will be surprised when you are half way through the plate only to realize how stuffed you are but because the dish is so tasty, you can’t imagine not having any more of it.

Tagliatelle “alla Carbonara” with Cream, Egg, Bacon and Parmesan

The ingredients in this dish create a creamy-sweet delicacy that describing it as tasty would be an understatement. The black pepper added onto it gave it a fantastic twist enhancing the flavours to a level only your taste buds can fathom. The pasta absorbs the cream and cheese making it so filling and the bacon brings little spasms of flavours never tasted before.

Farfalle, With Smoked Sailfish Asparagus Tips and Pink Sauce

The saltiness of this meal was complimented by the smokiness of the Sailfish making it incredibly pleasing. The pink sauce complimented the pasta and sailfish making it a flavourful well balanced meal.

By the time we were done with our meals we were completely satisfied and some of us even had to have the left-overs packed since we did not manage to clear our plates.
