The Rub-a-Dub Concert is back for the third time and we are over excited about it. This time round, they have planned a grand night to be graced by the much lauded Scottish Sound System Group, Mungo’s Hi Fi for their first African performance. This must-attend concert will be going down on 9th October at The Mall Rooftop, Westlands.
Mungo’s Hi Fi was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in the year 2000 by Doug Paine and Thomas Tatterhall and has since grown to include seven permanent members. The group have brought their unique sound to events across the globe and have collaborated with the likes of Solo Banton, Tippa Irie, Omar Perry (Lee Perry’s Son), Sugar Minott and Ranking Joe.
Coming to Kenya as part of their maiden Africa tour will be Douglas Paine, one of the original founders and Charlie P, a young up and coming reggae musician from Essex, England already making waves in the industry.
Rub-a-Dub is an evolving concept introduced by Bad Mambo Productions: it started as a Bazaar (April), mutated into a Foodie Carnival (July) and now in its newest incarnation will be a high profile Rooftop Concert featuring one of the UK’s biggest Reggae crews all. The constant thread throughout these events can be found in a desire to play high quality music with Caribbean undertones. From calypso, to dancehall to dubstep, the DJs – who hail from the UK, Kenya and Uganda – are guaranteed to delight any a music lover’s senses and always know, without fail, how to please a crowd.
