For the first time Nairobi will host the global phenomenon known as restaurant week.
Food cities such as New York, London, Cape Town and many more around the world hold it annually to great acclaim.
Between January 30th and February 6th 2014 patrons will be able to experience a special menu at the city’s top restaurants.
As Kenya celebrates its Jubilee year, 50 of Nairobi’s best restaurants will be offering a 3 course prix fix menu for Ksh1250 and Ksh1750 for eight days. Some of the establishments include Jiko at Tribe Hotel, Seven Seafood & Grill, Talisman, Zen Garden, Lord Delamere at Norfolk Fairmont and Brew Bistro.
Nairobi Restaurant Week is just the experience to bring friends and family together to toast a New Year.
Organized by Taste Events Ltd (the team that brought the highly acclaimed Taste Awards 2011 and 2013 to Kenya) and Heineken, it is a program designed to promote the local restaurant industry and drive patrons through the doors of participating establishments.
Mikul Shah, director at Taste Events commented, “The concept was conceived with Shamim Ehsani of Village Market over 2 years back. At the time we were working together on the first Taste Awards held at the Tribe hotel in December 2011. He had just returned from New York where he had attended NYC Restaurant Week and I had the same with Mumbai Restaurant Week. We both thought that Nairobi was ready for our very own!”
Nairobi Restaurant Week is about applauding the finest food the city has to offer. The top chefs are putting their culinary skills to the test so that restaurant-goers can experience a one-off limited edition celebratory menu. It celebrates the ingenuity and innovation of our favorite local restaurants.
Taking part in Nairobi Restaurant Week is simple. Patrons simply book at a participating establishment and order off the specially priced menu. Menus are limited to the first 250 patrons at each outlet.
While there is no need to pre-book, it is recommended and can be done directly with the establishments, by calling 0711 222 222 or by booking online at www.eatout.co.ke
