Nairobi’s New Hotspot: Honey & Dough

written by Sonali Sumaria 9th July 2019

Ever go through your Instagram feed and see gorgeous cafes with stunning décor and picture-perfect food? You don’t need to do that anymore; Nairobi’s first gourmet café, Honey and Dough, opens this week at One Place Africa towers. The breath-taking décor and a massive menu will keep you coming back.

With an extensive menu, there are lots of healthy options; you can have everything from Gluten-free Pancakes to an Acai bowl to a Thai Chicken Buddha Bowl to Raw Ravioli. Basically, Honey and Dough is a heaven for the health-conscious and vegans. They also have a wide variety of normal food like burgers, wraps, pasta and curries. While ensuring that they cater for meat-lovers, vegetarians, and vegans, the menu introduces many firsts for Nairobi.

The drinks menu was even more impressive! With about 10 flavours of Hot Chocolate and a selection of vegan frappes – you’ll never run out of something to order. They are soon introducing a Gin Bar, also a first in Kenya.

We went for breakfast during the soft opening last weekend and loved the whole experience. While items such as the Acai You – Smoothie Bowl (A MUST!) and the Vegan English Breakfast were absolutely amazing. Dishes like the Uthappam and the French Toast still needed some improvement. My personal favourites were the hot drinks, we had the Honeycomb Beetroot Latte, Coconut Mocha, Rasberry Kiss Hot Chocolate, Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate and Salted Carmel Hot Chocolate (Don’t judge, it was really cold)!
Overall, we really enjoyed the vibe. I am definitely going to be a regular once it opens this Thursday (11th July 2019). Through July, dinners and weekends are strictly by reservation only.
