#NRW2016 Cape Town Winner Announced

written by Wendy Watta 11th February 2016

EatOut last night announced the ‘Win A Trip to CapeTown’ prize as the 3rd edition of Nairobi Restaurant Week 2016 drew to close last weekend. Lucky Ms Grace Mburu was in complete shock when she learnt that she was the winner, spotted by the Nederburg team enjoying a bottle of Nederburg Edelrood at Gigiri’s Lord Erroll Restaurant.

“#NRW2016 is one of the most amazing events and seems to be getting bigger and better each year. I’ve always been a huge fan of EatOut but this feels like a dream. Thank you so much!” exclaimed an ecstatic Grace when she dropped by the EatOut offices earlier this week. “It still hasn’t sunk in that I actually won! I am an accountant for a tea estate and therefore know a lot about tea tasting, but almost nothing about wine tasting. Visiting the Nederburg Vineyard in Paarl is going to be quite the experience of a lifetime. ”

Grace’s win can be summed up as a combination of luck and being in the right place at the right time. What makes this even more unbelievable for her is the fact that she works in Limuru and only comes to Nairobi every other weekend- and this time she was in town for a date.

She will get to visit the stunning 200 year old Nederburg Manor House which plays host to a bistro-style restaurant called The Red Table whose menu focuses on fresh ingredients sourced from farmers and producers within the estate’s vicinity, all enjoyed in a scenic atmosphere overlooking the picturesque Drakenstein mountains.

The ocean front city that is Cape Town has it all: beautiful beaches, flawless infrastructure and some of the world’s best wine and food. “I like good food and good wine, which is why I could not miss out on NRW this year and luckily ended up winning the ultimate prize. I am also quite the Yummy Magazine fan! What I’m looking forward to most when I get to Cape Town is eating, drinking, site seeing and shopping” states Grace.

Be sure to follow her trip to Cape Town on this blog, and look out for the next edition of Nairobi Restaurant Week in January 2017. Who knows…you could be the next winner!
