Kenyans are super excited about Obama’s upcoming visit and why shouldn’t we? Besides the rumoured public holiday, the President of America, one of our own, is coming to Kenya! I however think, the most excited about his visit is his grandmother, Mama Sarah and the people of Kogalo.
‘It does not matter whether Barack is a senator or a president,’ she added. ‘He will have what I have prepared for him’
The last time he was in the country was in 2006, when he was still Senator Obama. Now as he visits the country as a president, its going to be one big party! What’s a party without food? Mama Sarah has vowed to prepare a traditional feast for Obama when he visits the country. That means there’ll be lots of fish, ugali (I hope he learns how to cook it) chicken and maize porridge. One thing is for sure, he won’t get food better than that anywhere!
She said she had asked him ‘to come pay respect to his fathers grave’ Obama’s father was born and raised in Kogalo before he travelled abroad to study where he met Obama’s mother in Hawaii. I think we can all agree if Obama visits his grandma and has a meal with her, he’ll officially become the coolest president on earth.
