Detoxification is about resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out. You can go through a rigorous detoxification programme or you can incorporate a couple of new items into your everyday routine to help cleanse your body on a daily basis. Since the majority of us don’t have the luxury of time or money to spend months at a health farm in the Himalayan foothills, we put together the perfectly delicious and simple recipe for a detox smoothie.
Ingredients for 2 servings
1 ripe Papaya
Papaya is naturally high in dietary fibre, which helps cleanse your gastrointestinal tract. It’s also rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which have cancer-fighting properties.
1 Lime (juice only)
Like all citrus fruits, lime is very high in vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system and is a vital antioxidant nutrient.
1 tablespoon of Honey
Natural sugars in honey provide energy, plus it has anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial properties and is a natural cleanser,
1 glass of Water
Water makes up 75% of our body and is essential for cleansing and hydrating.
Place the peeled papaya (seeds removed) in a blender with the lime juice, honey and water. Puree finely and pour into 2 glasses. Sit back and enjoy knowing that this drink is nothing but refreshing and very good for you.
