Are you a T-bone, Rump or Rib-eye kind of person? Do you like your steaks cooked medium rare or medium well? Whatever your answer, you must be a steak lover and if that’s the case these are some of the steak houses you need to visit in Nairobi.

 Ankole Grill (Kilimani)

Named after the iconic cattle breed of East Africa, the Ankole Watusi,  the recently opened Ankole Grill located at Senteu plaza in Kilimani aspires to provide an African culinary experience. Enjoy their succulent grilled steaks and uniquely prepared delicacies which you can wash down with a hand-crafted signature cocktail of your choice.

 Chop House (Radisson Blu, Upperhill)

Having recently introduced a new menu, their open kitchen presents a theatrical scene where patrons can see the chef perform amidst flames of magical flare. The executive chef has mastered the art of grilling and he prepares flavourful, tender steaks served in generous portions.

Eagles Steak House (Ole Sereni)

If you find yourself along Mombasa Road bathing in the serenity that is Ole Sereni and craving a juicy steak, Eagles Steakhouse will cure that craving. The restaurant is located on the 4th floor and overlooks the watering hole of the Nairobi National Park evoking an adventurous view as you indulge in your steak.

Fogo Gaucho (Westlands, Viking House & Kilimani Galana Plaza)

Fogo Gaucho is a meat heaven you dare not miss. Their all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffet make for a memorable South Brazilian meat experience. A great place for big groups but be sure to make a reservation particularly over the weekend as it gets busy.

Graze (Sankara)

If you are a lover of steak and wine pairings, Graze steakhouse should be your go-to. Popular for their seasoned, aged, josper fired steaks, coupled with their wide selection of wines, Graze provides an intimate set up merged with mellow music that sets the tone for a perfect experience.

Olpul (Two Rivers Mall, Limuru rd)

Located on the lower ground floor of the mammoth Two Rivers mall, the cosy and chic steak house featuring Maasai inspired decor serves up delicious cuts of meat. Olpul, which means a home coming celebration of warriors, provides a wide variety of options from freshly cut meat to 21 day aged meat sourced from various ranches in Kenya.

Sierra (Yaya Centre & Rivaan Centre Westlands)

Considered more of a fine dining restaurant than a steakhouse, Sierra’s steaks are full flavoured classic cuts with incredible flavour and tenderness. They use local ingredients, sourcing their beef and lamb from their own farm and they also own a butchery where they process the meat themselves, resulting to quality meat cuts.

Spur Steakhouses

Nairobi is home to four franchises of Spur Steak Ranches – one of the largest South African restaurant chains. Golden Spur at Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel, Parklands, Soaring Eagle Spur at Eka Hotel, Eagle Peak Spur at The Hub and Spur Steak Ranches at Two Rivers Mall. The Spur Steak Ranches restaurants are a haven for meat lovers. Famed for their legendary ribs that ooze their sweet and sticky sauce they provide a casual set up where you can satisfy your craving for barbecued ribs.

The Steak Out (Manyani Rd Westlands)

Set in what used to be a family home, The Steak Out features a cosy intimate ambiance perfect for date night. Perfect for large groups and families, their plush garden comes alive on weekends with fun activities for the little ones. Be sure to try out their steaks and their signature Malindi mojto, it’s a guaranteed treat!
