The Pro.gres.sive Concert is the first public event held by the Progressive Initiative. This group made up like-minded,high achieving entrepreneurial individuals and some of their preferred partners have come together to support an event showcasing versatile and talented musicians.
Taking place on the 8th of June at the Kenya National Theatre this original production will celebrate Kenyan music, art and diversity through a spectacular performance of original African, Eastern and Western compositions.
There are a number of musicians performing in the concert with Asali the lead vocalist a lover of Afro Jazz, word poetry and kijiba chants. Other musicians taking part include Mohan Shah playing the Santoor, Rapasa on vocals, Andrew Ngatia and Nathan Okite on bass and acoustic guitar, Kirit Pattni on flute and Christine Kamau playing the trumpet.
This project produced by Farra Nurani, the director of SAMOSA Festival 2012, is also integrating art into the performance with the Spray for Change Campaign.
Commissioned by Basco Paints 10 of Kenya’s leading graffiti artists including Uhuru B, Swift 9 and Wise Two embarked on the Spray For Change project where they were able to showcase their vision for a New Kenya.
Their talent and live interpretation of the music will be presented at the concert.
