Recipe: Citrus Chicken Braised In Beer

To enjoy a good chicken meal It’s advisable to always marinate your chicken in either beer or citrus juice before you braise in a creamy sauce flavoured in garlic and ginger.

This is a meal that won’t take even 30 minutes of your time to prep,


4 chicken breast halves (boneless or skinless)

Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Orange juice 1 tbsp

1 cup of your favourite beer brand

Olive oil 2 tbsp


Butter 1 tbsp

Minced garlic 1 tsp

Shallots minced 1 tsp

Ground ginger ¬ľ tsp

Your Favourite beer brand 4 oz


Cream 1 cup

Grated orange peel 1 tsp

Pound the chicken breast to 1/4 inch thickness. In a container, together with the lemon juice, orange juice and beer. Stir them together. Refrigerate it for one hour, turn the chicken over after 30 minutes try to make both sides get marinated evenly.

On medium heat in a large non-stick skillet , add olive oil. Detach the chicken from the marinade, the shake off the excess and lay it in the skillet then discard the marinade.

Cook the chicken for a about 2-3 minutes on both sides then remove from the skillet. In the skillet add shallots,butter and garlic, cook and stir for a minute. Add the beer, ginger, salt to taste, and cook about 2-3 minutes.

Add orange peel and cream, cook and stir for about 3-4 minutes. Put the heat to low, bring back the chicken to the pan and simmer for about 10-12 minutes or when the juices are clear, turn the chicken and stir while it simmers.

You can serve your beer braised chicken with roasted carrots and lemon scented rice.
