The Rub-a-Dub Carnival takes place this Saturday and it will be off the hook! Let me break it down for you…here’s what you need to know:
Who: This second edition is being hosted by Bad Mambo, one of the newest events teams in town. They promise they won’t disappoint!
What: The first edition was called Rub-a-Dub bazaar and it took the form of a musical craft fair in the afternoon (but with a strictly roots, ska, reggae soundtrack) and a heavy dancehall party at night. This time, the craft fair element has been replaced with an exclusive food court which will be showcasing a variety of different foodstuff- all in mini portions so that attendees have an opportunity to try out more than one stall.
The list of food vendors will include: Cheka Japanese Restaurant (mini ramen bowls), An Italian Arancini stall (deep fried rice balls), A Thai stall courtesy of The Thai Place, A Sudanese felafel stall courtesy of the Felafel Guys, An Ital (Jamaican Rasta) Vegetarian stall, a jerk chicken and corn stall, an Indian vegetarian stall, a coffee stall courtesy of Java, a cupcake stall courtesy of Sugarpie Cupcakes and maybe an Italian icecream stall.
When/Where: The carnival takes place on Saturday 4th July at the Bus on 80, Muthithi road.
Why: Nairobians are becoming bigger foodies by the minute. What better way to discover some of the wealth of international food that the city has on offer than through a bitings foods court? Since vegetarians are often under-represented in food events, Bad Mambo has ensured that the carnival will be as vegetarian friendly as possible.
How: Food will be sold on a voucher system and each portion will cost no more than 300 bob each.
There you have it! We shall meet you there! Don’t be shy…be sure to say hi.
