Just when i thought it couldn’t get better, something happens to make me feel that indeed we are in the right track. ‘We’, being the Kenyan product industry at large.International companies are picking our country as one of the top places to launch their swanky new product lines.
However much this can be debated, the positive aspect we can take out of this is that we are slowly gaining our place beside the ‘recognized’ continents in Africa. Beauty products, hotel and restaurant chains, soft drinks, phones and techie gadgets, name them, have all earned their place in our market.
So this is the deal. Absolut Vodka, the third largest brand of alcoholic spirits in the world after Bacardi and Smirnoff recently held a vibrant and exclusive event at Sankara Hotel. Absolut is owned by French group Pernod Ricard after they bought it for €5.63 billion in 2008 from its Swedish state.
Recently, Absolut in conjunction with SHK consulting made sure that they gave key media personalities and invited guests something to talk about. They surely made a statement that they were on the Kenyan market to stay. And we were happy to experience what they had to offer to our vodka-loving Kenyans.
VIP invited guests were invited to board ‘ABS AIRWAYS’ for a first-class trip around the world to iconic cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Shanghai to experience the diversity of Absolut flavours in a unique cocktail tasting session.
From the Absolut Citron Ginger Martini, James Bond’s favourite to an Absolut Vanilia Summer, guests indulged in Absolut Mixology in style – even getting behind the bars to recreate these themselves.
