The Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi is getting ready for Christmas. With just a little over a month left to prepare for the festive season, which is a huge deal for the hospitality and tourism industry, the Sarova chain is acquiring new talent and experimenting with creative new culinary flavors to entice guests come December.
At the annual Sarova Panafric cake mixing ceremony held at the hotel on Wednesday the 28th October, 2014, journalists and stake holders were given an exclusive opportunity to taste the creations of the hotel chain’s latest pastry chef graduates.
In addition, it was a fun opportunity to roll up our sleeves and assist in the spice mixing.
The spice mixing is a ceremony which dates back to 17th century Europe. It was marked by mixing of various spices, liquors, fruits and nuts. According to ancient lore, a ring would be hidden in the spices and if a young lady found the ring, she would get to be queen for a day.
However, in modern times it is just a fun opportunity to bring people together and mix the spices which will be used to make mince pies and other sweet treats.
