Well, considering we recently did a story about Bottled wine created specially for cats in Japan, the scorpion and snake delicacy didn’t really faze us.
…Until we learnt that the critters were actually used with their poisonous venoms. Yikes!
Apparently in some of the Southeast Asian countries like Japan (yet again), Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, you can actually buy a bottle of wine which is bizarrely made from dipping a poisonous Cobra or scorpion in rice wine liquor.
The rice wine is then left to ferment for a few months. This is done to dissolve the dangerous venom before you decide to take the ‘sip of death’.
So is this deathly liquid actually harmful to your health?
Well the unmentioned side effects as reported, is that by drinking the fermented wine you may just end up feeling an overwhelming feeling of ‘badassery’ and unanticipated chest-hair growth.
Sounds awesome doesn’t it?
We at yummy just have a little query, would dare or take a sip of the rice wine if it’s availed locally?
Something to ponder!
