Take Ten With Joss Stone

Bad Mambo Productions brought multi-platinum singer and songwriter Joss Stone to Kenya for a performance at Purdy Arms as part of her Total World Tour. I got the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with her and asked a quick 10 questions about all things food, drink and lifestyle.

What food/drink items are on your rider and why?

We always have healthy snacks like salad and dips on there and a few drinks that the band tends to tuck into but nothing elaborate really. One thing I do ask for is plenty of water for me and my singers, and and I like my lemon, ginger and honey tea..that helps my voice.

Coffee or tea?

Tea, definitely tea.

What 5 food items are always in your kitchen?

Baked beans, a nice bar of chocolate, eggs, cheese and there is usually a pot of humous in the fridge.

What’s the weirdest gift you’ve ever received from a fan?

Hmmm, I don’t really know. I once had a letter from a fan asking for a gift from me.

If someone was to buy you a drink at the bar, what would you order?
Depends on my mood, it could be a beer or if I’m feeling in a celebratory mood then a glass of bubbly goes down well

What’s your go-to midnight snack?

I think a piece of good chocolate goes down pretty well at all times of the day.

What’s your all time favourite meal?
It’s beany pancakes. They were my favourite growing up and I still love them now. It’s just beans and cheese, wrapped in a crepe with pasatta and cheese on top then baked.

Biggest restaurant pet peeve?
Nothing vegetarian on the menu, its 2016 for goodness’ sake!

Why did you decide to go vegetarian?
I have been veggie forever because my parents bought us up that way. The reason I stay vegetarian is that I don’t want to eat living creatures. I’m not preachy about it, I understand that not everyone feels that way but I personally don’t see the point of doing that if we can go and get a veggie burger quite easily

What was the biggest challenge going vegetarian?
Because I have never eaten meat or fish, I don’t miss anything or find it challenging really. You can’t miss what you never had.
