For most of us, a night out at your favorite bar is not complete until you have had shots of your favorite drink, be it whisky, tequila or vodka. Shots have a way of lighting the night up and making it super fun right? They make nights out with friends turn insane and they are attributed to a lot of crazy stuff people do after taking them.
However, if taken the wrong way, they can really mess you up and you would swear to never take shots again. But because we want you to have fun and have stories to laugh about the next day when you are sober and reliving the previous night, we have a few rules you should follow when taking shots. Better save this post, you will need it the next time your going out.
1) Never Sip
The fact that a shot is designated as one unit of alcohol means it is to be taken in one go. Sipping is completely out of the question. It is called a shot because it is meant to go down fast. Tip the glass upside-down to make sure every drop has been taken There’s no savoring when it comes to shots.
2) Never Smell The Shot
No matter how curious you may be, never smell what is contained in a shot glass. The scent will feed your nose and mouth making you more likely to choke or gag when trying to drink the shot. Hold the glass at arms length and make a toast with friends and gulp it down without a thought in mind.
3) The More The Merrier
If you are a bunch of friends and some of you have been talking to strangers in the club, include those strangers in the round of shots. The next day you will go through Instagram and find photos of a total stranger drinking and posing next to you like you’ve been best friends for ages; evidence of a night gone insane and memories worth reliving.
4) Have A Plan
Decide prior to going out exactly what shots you are going to take, and how many. This will keep you from just telling the bartender ” We want shots,” and leaving him with the choice of what you should have.
5) Don’t Breathe Through Your Nose
Doing this will make you feel like you have a lava-like liquid in your mouth going through your nostrils. What you should do is take the first few breaths with your mouth after taking the shot.
6) Never Do Shots When A Love Song Is Playing
We all know a number of things that can go wrong when you do this. When under the influence, everyone in the club looks pretty and handsome and you do not want to take shots with a love song playing because you will not be responsible for the actions that will follow.
7) Don’t Just Take Shots Because Everyone Else Is Taking Them
You are at a club with a bunch of friends and suddenly a few of them decide they want to take shots. If you don’t feel strong enough to take shots with them, don’t. You might end up taking shots of a brand you are not used to and end up messed up. Only take shots when you are ready.
8) Take Shots And Water At Intervals
This will help you control your alcohol levels. A bottle of water in between shots gives your body a great balance so you don’t end up getting extremely drunk and wasted.
The next time you are going out with friends and it’s time to take shots, these pointers will definitely come in handy as you have fun.
