Yes, you heard right, alcohol just got serious…a Master Bar Tending Academy! I’m sure if asked, most people here in Kenya will scoff at the idea of having such a program yet majority will be the ones when questioned, not have an inkling of what they are served at their local bars. They get to the counter and pick the most attractive looking bottle on the shelf, hoping that its inside will taste as good as its outsides.A drink is just not a drink people, it is a concoction, if professionally prepared to meet its full potential, will illicit the best results from its partaker (and no, it’s not a hangover, guess again). In a nutshell, you need someone who really knows about their alcoholic brands and who can recommend you the best brands quickly and confidently when asked. You need a bartender who has studied at the MBA.
Answering the call and coming to the rescue, EABL has recently launched its Pan-African Training program on spirits at a popular joint in Nairobi. Bartenders can now receive their MBA through certification in the Master Bar Tending Academy (MBA) which EABL dubs as the Ultimate Business Qualification. The objective of the program is to educate and inspire bar tenders in Africa to ensure that spirits are served perfectly every time. The MBA program will go a long way to ensuring thousands of professionally trained bar tenders across Kenya deliver the right serve, every time. The MBA targets premium pubs, hotels and clubs and aims to train bartenders on critical brand knowledge elements. There shall be training throughout the Country for the next seven weeks targeting Major Cities.
So exactly what does the program entail? The academy will be conducting specialized training on Mixology and Bar Tendering skills with be-spoke Mobile technology being leveraged as well. With the help of a Mixology specialist, the program demonstrates different cocktails and further takes the opportunity to go through Back Bar Merchandising, Counterfeits and Commercial arguments with spirits. All bar owners are encouraged to sign up their employees in the program and after all, it will be good for their business if customers always come back because of the superb and professional service.
