24 year old Arnold Sawe emerged as one of the lucky winners of a global campaign by Pernod Ricard dubbed #MeetAlexILR, beating thousands of other applicants from around the world. Arnold joined 6 other finalists from France, USA, Chile, Singapore, New Zealand and India to represent Kenya and Africa.
They got to enjoy the ultimate prize which included a trip to Paris, France, to meet Alexandre Ricard, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard Group.
Arnold is passionate about travel and he works in the travel and tourism industry. “I stumbled on the exciting campaign by chance (perhaps in hindsight there is no such thing as chance),” he said. They got treated to the French experience, featuring five course dinners, exquisite cocktails and champagnes, a tour of Paris where they saw great sites including the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, The Palaces of Versailles, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomphe and many others.
They then got to spend time with the Pernod Ricard team at the global headquarters, where they learnt a lot about the company and see first-hand other innovative and exciting things they do while experiencing the different brands by the company.
“Meeting Alexandre Ricard was an inspiring experience. I would describe Mr. Alexandre as a millennial CEO, at his age 43; he is definitely one of the youngest CEOs in charge of such a huge multinational. What impressed me was his depth of knowledge. Africa is a key emerging market for him-one that he sees a great deal of opportunity in. He knew all about the wines and spirits market on the continent including who the key players (big and small) are in Kenya,” added Arnold.
