Favorites To Land the Best Record in the MLB

by Kevin Wandu

With the MLB regular season ready to get underway, there is always one team at the end of the regular season that will finish with the best record in all of baseball. Last year, the San Francisco Giants finished with the best record during the regular season at 107-55. They were bounced in the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games, who happened to have the second-best record in the MLB last season at 106-56.

There have been MLB picks today about who will potentially have the best record in the MLB for the upcoming 2022 regular season. Who are some of the teams that have the best odds to get the top record in all of baseball this year?

Los Angeles Dodgers +275

Why should the Los Angeles Dodgers being at the top of this list really surprise anyone? They have the most loaded lineup in all of baseball. Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Trea Turner, and Will Smith. They also have one of the best starting rotations in all of baseball with Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, and Julio Urias.

Manager Dave Roberts has a lot to work with this season. They are going to be a well-oiled machine once again and will be extremely difficult to beat on a night-to-night basis. The grind will be very hard for them but they are going to hit several hot stretches this season.

Kenley Jansen and Craig Kimbrel will probably split time as the closer. The Dodgers will wrack up wins within their own division against the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks, but they will have some competition against the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants.

It wouldn’t be a major surprise to see the Los Angeles Dodgers with the best record in all of baseball this season.

Toronto Blue Jays +450

The Toronto Blue Jays have the second-best odds to have the best record in all of baseball this season. It is a little surprising that Toronto has this high of odds despite the fact that they play in an extremely difficult American League East division. The Blue Jays are the best team in that division, but they could have some hiccups along the way against the Boston Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the New York Yankees.

Toronto’s manager is Charlie Montoyo. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is one of the best players in all of baseball. He is a threat to go yard every time he steps up to the plate. There are so many other bats in the lineup like Matt Chapman (acquired in a trade from the Oakland Athletics), Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Teoscar Hernandez.

Cavan Biggio will also be a reliable player in this lineup. Alek Manoah will be the ace of this rotation. They did lose Robbie Ray via trade to the Seattle Mariners in the offseason. He won the American League Cy Young Award last season.

They will be extremely dangerous throughout the season. However, the ones more likely to get is the Chicago White Sox (+1100) in the American League.

New York Yankees +800

Fade the New York Yankees having the best record in baseball as soon as possible. New York will be lucky to even make it to the playoffs this season. They are in an extremely difficult AL East division. Their roster is poorly constructed thanks to general manager Brian Cashman. Yes, they are a historic franchise and have expectations every single season, but let’s not get fooled here.

The Yankees do have some good hitters like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, but the health of both of them is largely questionable year in and year out. A lot of people have also been critical of manager Aaron Boone. Their starting rotation after Gerrit Cole is not very good. Will the bullpen be ready to go or will Aroldis Chapman implode in ninth innings once again?

The New York Yankees will be more in a battle for an AL Wild Card spot in the postseason rather than battling for the best record in all of baseball.
